I work with corporate and commercial clients across the City of London and beyond who need a document notarised or legalised quickly, often against a closing deadline or a time difference. I've set up my practice to handle that remotely: I hold the video technology, the digital QES signature infrastructure, and an FCDO digital account for e-apostille applications, so a document can go from your inbox to a legally notarised, apostilled PDF without a courier or an office visit.
I still keep an office at 30 Brooke Street, EC1N, and I'm happy to see you in person or attend your offices if that suits the transaction better. Online notarisation is an additional route, not a replacement — I'll tell you plainly if your document or its destination country needs a wet-ink signature or a paper apostille instead.

Email me the document and tell me which country or institution it's going to — that determines whether e-apostille or paper apostille is the right route.
Identity verification
I verify your identity against government-issued ID on a recorded video call, to the same standard I'd apply in person.
Signing, on camera
You sign in front of me over video; I witness it and apply my notarial certificate and Qualified Electronic Signature (QES).
FCDO e-apostille
Where needed, I submit the signed document to the UK Legalisation Office through my FCDO digital account for e-apostille.
Delivery
You receive the finished, digitally signed and apostilled PDF, independently verifiable at gov.uk/verify-apostille.

What makes a remote signature stand up legally
A notarial act carries the same weight whether I'm in the room or on a screen, provided the identity check and the signature meet the right standard. That's the part clients usually ask about, so here's what sits behind it:
Qualified Electronic Signature
I sign with a QES — the highest tier under UK/eIDAS regulation, carrying the same legal standing as a handwritten signature and a tamper-evident certificate.
Video identity verification
Recorded video calls with government ID checks, meeting the standard set by the Notaries' Society for remote notarial acts.
FCDO digital account
Direct electronic submission to the UK Legalisation Office, with e-apostilles checkable by any recipient at gov.uk/verify-apostille.

Can a UK notary notarise a document remotely, by video call?
Yes. I can notarise many corporate and personal documents remotely, verifying your identity and witnessing your signature over a live video call, then applying my digital signature and seal. Whether a particular document can be notarised remotely depends on the document type and the requirements of the country or institution receiving it, which I confirm with you before we start.
Is a digital signature legally valid for notarisation?
Yes. I sign remote notarial acts using a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES), the highest tier of electronic signature under UK and EU eIDAS regulation, giving it the same legal weight as a handwritten signature. Each QES-signed document carries a verifiable digital certificate confirming it hasn't been altered since I signed it.
What is an FCDO e-apostille and how long does it take?
An e-apostille is a digital certificate issued by the FCDO's Legalisation Office, attached to a digitally signed PDF of your notarised document and checkable online at gov.uk/verify-apostille. I hold a digital FCDO account, so I submit documents electronically and, for straightforward cases, can turn an e-apostille around within the same day rather than the several days a postal application usually takes.
Will every country accept an e-apostille instead of a paper one?
Most of the 120-plus countries in the Apostille Convention should accept an FCDO e-apostille, and some, including Italy and Spain, now request it by default. A small number of document types, such as police records, and some receiving institutions still require the traditional paper apostille. I check the requirement for your specific document and destination before advising which route to take.
What documents can be notarised or apostilled online?
Most corporate and commercial documents suit the remote process, including powers of attorney, board resolutions, company incorporation and KYC documents, certified copies, and documents for cross-border transactions. Some documents, and some receiving jurisdictions, still call for a paper original or an in-person appointment, which I'll flag before we begin.
Do I need to come to your office for online notarisation?
No. The whole process, from identity verification to signing and, where needed, the e-apostille application, can be completed from wherever you are, in the UK or abroad. I still offer in-person and mobile appointments at 30 Brooke Street, London EC1N 7RS, or at your offices, if you'd rather sign in front of me.
